Hawk's Song
Tethered little hawk, vying for the sky
Tearing at her bonds with a captive's cries.
Earth-bound hawk with wings tied so
Tell me, please, little hawk - where will you go?
Left to you still are the chicks in the nest
Though papa-bird has found his way to flight's final rest
While the ghost of the bird sitting by your side
Has vanished into dust, leaving you still tied.
The wheel in the sky turns along its merry way
Going down the same-said lane, day after day.
The hand that tied you holds you even now
So what will you do - and do you know how?
When comes the day, into fire's maw
That you break your bonds, fighting beak and claw?
